1968 Triumph TR250/TR5 specification, registration number FND 620F, chassis number CD2591L, engine number CC3772-E, Signal red. With less than 400 miles since a full nut and bolt restoration, this Triumph TR250 is one of 8400 leaving the production line in a very short production run of only 15 months between 1967 and 1968. Intended for the North American market they did not feature the TR5's fuel injection system but relied on twin Zenith or Stromberg carburettors which in turn endowed the engine to develop 111 bhp against 150 bhp of the TR5's injected engine. This particular example that we have the pleasure in offering for sale has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration by its previous engineer owner over a four year period. There is a CD containing over 100 images of all stages of the work that has been undertaken, supported by two large ring binders containing receipts and invoices. Now in Signal red with a contrasting black interior, hood and tonneau cover, the TR was converted to right hand drive and fitted with petrol injection which technically brings the car up to TR5 specification. It is interesting to note that the car is registered as a TR5 on the V5C as DVLA did not recognise the TR250 as a model when the Triumph was registered for the road. During the restoration the following works were carried out, a full bare shell rebuild and repaint, the engine was totally rebuilt with new pistons, bearings, crank regrind and rebore, the cylinder head was converted to cope with unleaded fuel, new electronic ignition, new fuel meter and pumps, new injectors, high torque starter motor, new hood, new hood cover, new dashboard (burr walnut), new wood rim steering wheel, new Mini Lite style alloy wheels with Yokohama tyres, new suspension with polybushes throughout, new exhaust system, new break callipers, disc pads, new brake and master cylinders, new brake servo, new heater matrix, new three piece clutch, the differential was overhauled, the gearbox and overdrive unit were overhauled, and the list of newly replaced or refurbished parts goes on and on to a total in excess of £15,000 not including labour. The Triumph currently has a road rally look with its Mini Lite wheels and bumperless body work but both the front and rear bumper and original steel wheels will be included in the sale and they are also in good condition. In summary the car drives exceptionally well and sounds lovely. V5C, MOT to November 2016, tax exempt GET IN TOUCH Mobile: *** Email: ***
